Homemade Artisan Bread

Bob bought a book on Artisan Breads breads and had it shipped to my house so I could give it a try. I made some pizza (yes there was cheese on it, but it lost the white color in the hot oven) and a loaf of bread. They both were yummy.

Kitty

Today, I finally saw the kitty that has been sleeping on one of the chairs by the front door. When I first saw him, his eyes were glued shut and he could barely meow. I got him some moist cat food which he found with his nose. After wiping his eyes with a warm damp rag, I got them to open a little. He seemed to really enjoy being petted. I wasn't sure if I should take him to the vet, or let him get a little more used to me as there has been evidence of him sleeping there regularly.

Biking

This morning we went for a 13 mile bike ride on some of the greenways through downtown Raleigh. It was the longest bike ride I'd ever been. The other longest was the ride around Cades Cove which is an 11 mile loop.

Dressed for Church

Today,we went to church in Raleigh, NC. After church, I got to meet several of Bob's friends at a group lunch at one of their homes.

Boating

Steve took his boat out for the first time since bringing it to CA. We docked at a restaurant and ate by the water.

Baby Photoshoot

Today I had the privilege of taking some pictures of a one week old baby boy. He was such a good little baby and was very curious with what was going on.

Single Rose

It's amazine how good this rose still looks. On the 14th, it traveled 2,500 miles across country on a plane and now is several days old.

Exploring

We drove to Griffith Observatory. We were going to take the scenic back road through the mountains, but the road was closed to a bridge that had washed away. In the evening, Bob treated me to an Ethiopian Restaurant. The food was really good. We had a sampler platter.

Sabbath

For Church, we drove down to Crosswalks. Bob had watched it on the internet (a couple times while I was in attendance), so now he was able to go there and see it.

Mt. Whitney

The day after my birthday, Bob and I hiked part way up Mt Whitney to Lone Pine Lake (about three miles). The scenery was beautiful. What a great way to spend the day. Last year, I started up the hill, but at the second creek crossing, decided to turn around. I only received my camera the day before and didn't want to risk slipping on the rock the first day I had it. The hike was worth the views.

My Birthday!

For my birthday, I received a lovely bouquet of flowers. For dinner, I was taken to the Farm Artisan Foods Restaurant in Redlands for a great meal. Their ingredients are locally grown, with organic being their first choice. For dessert, I was treated to a special chef request of strawberry shortcake with fresh whipping cream. I once mentioned to Bob that my mum used to make that for me when I was younger. I can't believe he remembered that and had the chef make it special for me (not a regular on the menu).

New Business

I've been working on starting my own photography business. Last week, I sent out samples to a couple professional labs and have receive pictures back. This weekend, I finalized on a logo, selected a business card design and published a website. In Memory of Fikus 1997-March 19,2009

Fikus was a great kitty that raised himself living out of dumpsters the first year of his life (and the food I would leave out for him). He always got excited at the smell of ice-cream, so he must have licked a lot of ice cream containers in his first year. He was really wild when I got him, so if he can be tamed...ANY cat can be tamed! This picture disguises it, but he had a tumor that was on the right side of his face (the left of the picture). He was such a sweet Kitty and will be greatly missed.
